Wedding rings – the hype is usually reserved for the bride, right? The stone, the gem, the cut, the carat, the color and everything in between.

Wrong!
Men, it’s time to get excited about your wedding ring – after all, it’s going to be wrapped around your finger for the rest of your life – it better be everything you ever dreamed of.
Who said men can’t get excited about jewelry?
Not us!
Here at Ben Garelick, we have just the thing to make your heart sing – is that too much?
With tantalum and titanium, you won’t be able to get enough!
The two powerhouse metals, tantalum and titanium, are rising in popularity when it comes to men’s wedding bands (just the names alone are pretty impressive).
While to the untrained eye, they may have a similar look and feel, there are several differences between these two metals, which are important to consider when choosing which one to adorn your finger for life.
So, how do you decide? We’ve got the answers.
Let’s take a little look into each of these fine materials and find which one is right for you, for your big day and beyond.
Somewhat of a new kid on the block within the jewelry world, tantalum is a rare type of grayish-colored metal that is hard wearing, shatterproof, lustrous and eye-catching.
It is a metal that is usually sourced in South America or Australia and is considered a rare material. Experts suggest it is getting even rarer, so you might want to get your hands on some sooner rather than later.
It is suggested that there may only be 50 years’ worth of tantalum reserves left on the entire planet.
It has “family heirloom” written all over it, don’t you think?
For a wedding ring, of course, you’re looking for a tough, durable metal that won’t damage or scratch easily.
Not to fear, tantalum has you covered on all bases here. What’s more, it doesn’t corrode, tarnish or shatter.
So, it’s perfect if you use your hands a lot at work or are dealing with chemicals.
It is an exquisitely attractive metal that oozes masculinity with a finish similar to that of platinum, only slightly darker in appearance.
It is also relatively low maintenance, requiring only soapy water to keep its appearance intact – it is important to note that the material can form a patina-style pattern over time.
However, it remains resistant to scratching or warping.
Possibly a more familiar metal in the wedding band arena is titanium.
A more commonly found shiny-gray metal that is both hardwearing and light in weight while also having an impressive luster.
Titanium is up there with the most challenging elements on the planet, so rest assured that your wedding ring, like your marriage, will be sure to last a lifetime.
It’s a material that will not corrode or rust. Therefore, you do not have to worry about removing it for specific tasks or situations and potentially losing it.
We imagine that that wouldn’t go down well with your partner, so titanium has you covered!
Titanium bands are also resistant to wear, unlike many other materials, which means that over the course of your life, you will save money not having to take your ring in for regular polishing to keep up its appearance.
A definite benefit and one less thing to remember!
Firstly, let's talk about color.
While tantalum has a natural blue-grayish appearance, titanium has a shinier gray (almost silver) tint to it.
However, it is possible in the manufacturing process of these rings to polish these two metals to a very similar color.
As previously mentioned, tantalum is also considered a scarce metal, which is somewhat reflected in the price.
In contrast, titanium can be a slightly more affordable option as it doesn’t appear to be diminishing in availability any time soon!
Weight is another area where these two metals differ.
While titanium is considered a lightweight metal, tantalum, on the other hand, is one of the heaviest metals.
Being a ring size, the weight shouldn’t be a big issue, but it’s good to note that there will be a slight difference between the two.
If you’re not one to usually wear rings, a heavier metal may take a small amount of getting used to in terms of additional weight.
We’re sure you’ll manage either way, though!
Let’s start with the obvious, both tantalum and titanium rings are aesthetically stunning and will last a lifetime.
After all, the main thing you want is your wedding ring to shine as much as your marriage does.

They both create timeless, elegant, and sophisticated wedding bands – so whichever you choose, they are sure to impress from a visual perspective.
Both metals are also hypoallergenic, meaning your skin will be happy with your choice, which is essential considering you’ll be wearing it daily!
Not sure about the right size? Tantalum wedding bands have the ability to be easily re-sized.
In contrast, Titanium wedding bands are a fair bit trickier to resize as they are made from a piece of solid titanium.
So best to get that wedding finger measured up if you decide a Titanium wedding band is the one for you.
At Ben Garelick, we’ll get you measured to perfection, whichever band and metal take your fancy!
Both tantalum and titanium are robust, durable, and hardwearing.
But it ultimately comes down to what works best for you, your lifestyle and ultimately, which one you fall in love with.
